The night sky is an amazing thing to contemplate. It amazes me how people made the constellations--formed shapes and stories by connecting the dots. What amazes me more is the moon. So much history has taken place under the moon. The moon was created by God to rule the night. Thing of how many nights there have been since that first day. When we see the moon, we are seeing the same moon Adam and Eve saw in the Garden of Eden. It's the same moon that Abraham would have seen as he traveled to the Promise Land. Moses must have seen that same moon, King David, must have seen that shining satellite. The rulers of old, the ancient people, the lost empires, all glimpsed the same moon we see today. Jesus walked on Earth and saw that moon--he created that moon. I don't know which is mightier, having the comfort of knowing my savior walked on the Earth and saw the same majestic light I see, or that he has the power and strength to create such a thing.
People all over the world see the same moon, even though they are miles apart. The stars are a constant throughout the ages. I am filled with excitement knowing one day, when I am old--or even dead--my children's children will look up one night and see the same beautiful sky I see today. Years from now--if the world hasn't ended--when this time is a faint memory, reduced to a paragraph in a history book, strangers I have no connection will look up and see the moon that guarded my nights. The sky connects the ages. People may change, science may change, fashion, music, art--it all will change. But creation never will. It ties the world together.
