The valley where I live
sits in the northwest corner of America
its lined by a river
bordered by mountains
the valley where I live
is full of beauty
springtime tulips
sunshine filled summers
apple-filled falls
winters drizzled with rain
the valley where I live
holds many unique features
drive-thru coffee huts line every street
the sound of train horns as they barrel down the tracks
wild blackberries that grow like weeds
ferries for transport between the islands of the sound
the valley where I live
is home of many memories
learning new constellations on warm summer nights
searching for crabs under barnacle-strewn rocks
setting off firecrackers for Fourth of July
sipping hot cider on crisp fall afternoons
making snowmen when it is cold enough for snow
the valley where I live
is a place I am proud to call home.
